Leaving a gift

LEAVING A LASTING GIFT IN YOUR WILL

Mencap in Kirklees is a local charity with our heritage going back more than 75 years. Our focus has always been, and will continue to be, improving the lives of people with a learning disability. We are proud to say we have always been led by people with learning disabilities and their families, and we still are, working together, co-producing everything we provide.

 

As a local charity, we rely on the support of our local community, and we are keen to work together to raise funds for our important work.

 

You may wish to leave a gift to MIK in your will and your legacy will allow us to provide continually improving support services enabling us to reach more people who need our support.   Your kindness will help us provide more brilliant opportunities supporting people with learning disabilities to live fulfilled and active lives.

YOUR LEGACY CAN HELP US:

    • Maintain our buildings to make sure they are as accessible as possible.
    • Develop new activities – enabling people we support to develop their skills.
    • Keep our vehicles running, without which people would not be able to get to our centres or enjoy trips and holidays.
    • Provide activities including arts and crafts, drama, photography and film making.
    • Make it possible for more people to participate in sport and leisure.
    • Enable people we support to play more music.
    • Enable people to use more assistive technology to help with communication.

Your gift in your will can be a specific amount of money or a percentage of your estate and as we are a registered charity you may reduce your inheritance tax if more than 10% of your estate is left to Mencap in Kirklees.
