Royal Mencap Society kindly issued 4 invitations to an evening reception at Buckingham Palace on 7.11.17. The evening was in recognition of Mencap’s 70th Anniversary to celebrate all that has been achieved since Judy Fryd’s letter in 1946 that sparked Mencap’s creation.
We were honoured that 4 representatives from Mencap in Kirklees joined the event. This was in recognition of the difference our organisation makes on a daily basis to people with a learning disability and their families and carers.
The Countess of Wessex, Patron of Mencap, hosted the reception at Buckingham Palace.

Below is a photograph of our representatives who attended the evening reception. They were Joanne from Finance Department, Linda (Chair of Mencap in Kirklees), Ken from Community Services and Diana from Castle Hall Residential Home.
They all enjoyed the memorable occasion.
Joanne quoted “ I feel lucky and honoured to have attended this function on behalf of the team at Mencap in Kirklees. What an amazing evening it was! Will remember it forever”

Covid Update
At Mencap in Kirklees, we know that the public restrictions have now mostly been removed. We will be following the new rules but do need to let everyone know that for social care settings many of the rules have not changed – only for the public.
As many of the people we support are clinically vulnerable we will still be taking precautions and using PPE as the government rules state we must.
Please get in touch with the relevant team directly for more detailed advice or contact our office at Independence House on 01484 340811.
